San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made national headlines Friday night and Saturday after he refused to stand and salute the flag for the national anthem before his team played the Green Bay Packers. Kaepernick, who is biracial (half white/half black), was raised by white parents who chose him via adoption. But despite the fact that he has made tens of millions while in the NFL as a less than mediocre quarterback, Kaepernick proclaimed that he would not stand and salute a flag of a country that oppresses black people.
Kaepernick is currently a second string quarterback, after losing the starting position last year to arguably the worst quarterback in the NFL, other than him, Blaine Gabbert. Yeah, Kaep, making $19 million a year for sitting the bench is so oppressive. The real injustice has been to the 49er fans who got screwed paying good money to go to a game only to watch you perform so poorly time and time again that you are now an overpaid benchwarmer. No doubt, those fans feel oppressed.
His refusal to salute the flag that many have fought and died for caused him to catch a lot of heat on social media. One fan, however, decided to bring the heat in a different manner.
He burned Kaepernick’s jersey to a crisp to the tune of our national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.”
WATCH this visual awesomeness for yourself.
By the way, the 49ers ended up losing that game 21 – 10. Kaepernick, one of four quarterbacks the 49ers played Friday night, completed two out of six passes for 14 yards with no touchdowns.
