Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth, who was white, was executed while completing the mundane task of fueling his vehicle. Shannon J. Miles, who is black, is accused of approaching him from behind, raising his gun, and shooting him in the head. Miles has been positively identified by an eyewitness and was also captured leaving the scene by surveillance video.
The scene was described as gruesome with Goforth found in a pool of his own blood after being shot in the head and back 15 times. And some lowlife scum in Houston is mocking the death of this married father of two young children with sick anti-cop emojis being posted around the city.
KTRK Eyewitness News reported on the graffiti that has been found in different areas of Houston. It is a picture of a police officer emoji with a gun pointed to his head.
“I can’t believe that there are people out there so heartless and so ruthless to put something on there before this deputy is even buried. It does nothing to help to help morale in the police department and does nothing to help the Goforth family,” HPD Union President Ray Hunt said.
Deputy Goforth’s body will be laid to rest on Friday. The 47-year old, 10-year veteran of the police force was ambushed and assassinated while pumping gas into his patrol vehicle last Friday night. The cowardly animal who shot him approached him from behind and shot him in the head. After Goforth fell, the perpetrator stood over him and continued shooting emptying all 15 rounds into Deputy Goforth’s body.
While the suspect, Shannon J. Miles, is in custody and has been charged with capital murder, that has not lessened the concern for the safety of police officers. This graffiti being posted in various areas of town will undoubtedly heighten these concerns.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for the Goforth family. To date, over $200,000 has been raised.
