OPINION: An Open Letter To C.J. Pearson

Hi C.J.!, Alex David here. You remember me, right? I was with you from the beginning of your meteroic rise as a young wunderkind in conservative politics. When Facebook blocked you from your account due to your age (but in actuality, because folks from the left complained), I became the Editor for your Facebook page and spoke on your behalf. Defended you. Remember those times? When you were getting death threats? I even made calls to my contacts at FOX News and other media outlets and helped you get your message out.

And now…..things have well….changed.

I have been reading your Facebook posts and Tweets since you have joined the Bernie Sanders campaign. There are comments being thrown your way that are unsavory. But many are simply communicating a sense of confusion and betrayal. Surely you can understand this, right? It’s not like you went from supporting say Rand Paul to Jeb Bush. You went from a fairly far right political activist to the farthest left in a matter of weeks.

Any hateful rhetoric being thrown your way is wrong. However, I don’t see how you cannot understand the confusion and feeling of betrayal some of your past fans have. It’s normal and part and parcel of human nature. Politics is a blood sport, like it or not. It just is and most likely will always be that way. You entered this sport at a very young age, so latitude was and should still be given, however, you’ve been playing it for some time now and you certainly are not ignorant of the rules, formal and informal, of the arena.

C.J., you have tens of thousands of followers on your Facebook page and Twitter account. The vast majority of them are past fans. I hate to break it to you, but I think that you should go all in and build a new fan base. Conservatives and Republicans will never support Bernie Sanders. Period. You should block and unfriend anyone who you think is “hating” on you and start anew with your new direction and your new supporters.

What sense does it make to continue to post on your existing Facebook and Twitter accounts when the vast majority of folks reading it are people you no longer agree with politically? Don’t you want to embrace Bernie Sander’s supporters? Wouldn’t it make sense to communicate with them through their outlets? Why look for apples in an orange grove? You can start with these guys.

I know that you are now stating that you are an “Independent”. However, Bernie Sanders is not an independent. He is running as a Democrat and only because we do not have a Socialist Party here in the USA. I read 90% or so of all the information on Sander’s website. Every issue and solution he puts forward is 100% unachievable without the Government. There is no mention of small business or the private sector in his plans. His views are a model of the European Democratic Socialist blueprint. An anathema to the Capitalistic Free Market economy described by Milton Freidman.

You are currently supporting the far left, Democratic Socialist part of the political spectrum and if that is your road, you should fully embrace it and go all in. Only then can you truly claim you are true to yourself in matters political. Good luck on your journey and Godspeed young man.
