ANOTHER Shooting in a ‘Gun-Free’ Zone, Media Blames Guns Almost Immediately

It’s another day in the U.S. where Americans encountered gun violence in a place where, according to liberals, guns were prohibited. The UCLA campus was placed under lockdown Wednesday morning after reports of a gunman opening fire emerged.

Within hours, the scene had been cleared and authorities have declared that the shooting was likely a murder-suicide that left two men dead including the shooter.

Authorities claim that the situation is entirely contained and they are no longer seeking additional suspects. The police recovered the gun and what appears to be a suicide note.

The shooting is certainly a tragedy and while it would be natural to offer thoughts and prayers regarding the tragedy, the left has seemingly opted to conduct themselves in the standard shameful manner to which they have become accustomed.

Within 35 minutes of the first reports of the shooting, the left began politicizing the deaths to vilify firearms and those who dare to defend the Second Amendment.

Igor Volsky, a deputy director at the Center for American Progress, jumped-into politicizing the tragedy barely a half hour from the start of the tragedy at UCLA.

“Fox commenting how it’s sad that UCLA has webpage about shootings. Even sadder that network is mouthpiece 4 @NRA propaganda about gun reform.”

Actress Debra Messing followed minutes later and oddly offered a selfie to “raise awareness” about gun violence.

If that’s not the very definition of narcissism, I don’t know what is.

CNN leftist propagandist Sally Kohn weighed-in minutes later and tweeted,

“Praying for everyone at #UCLA. And knowing prayers aren’t enough to end scourge of gun violence. #Enough

Though these oh-so-enlightened and caring individuals thought the best thing to do is to weigh in regarding gun violence, they did so without knowing any of the facts. They (and countless others on social media) spouted-off about gun violence while the situation was ongoing and without knowing any of the facts about who the shooter was, if there were multiple shooters, if there were any deaths- nothing.

However, there is one fact that we do know and did know while the shooting was occurring: it was happening in a “gun-free” zone.

Like so many campuses, UCLA is a “gun-free” zone where firearms are strictly prohibited by statute. Evidently, the man hellbent on killing another person and then taking his own life did not feel compelled to abide by the California statute barring firearms from campus… hmm. Strange.

This fact is often omitted when discussing gun violence. Those clamoring the loudest for increased gun control measures often neglect to explain how further laws will keep people safe when the entirety of gun control measures rely upon a premise where homicidal maniacs feel compelled to violate murder statutes but would be bridled by firearm statutes.

The argument is ridiculous and easily defeated with even a modicum of commonsense. However, good policy is not that in which the left deals; they deal in emotion.

The left’s cries for increased gun control are merely naked attempts to further burden law-abiding citizens all as they strive to feel like they’re making a difference.

In reality, keeping guns out of the hands of “good guys” just puts society at greater risk as the “bad guys” can always get guns and many seem undeterred by the silly statutes barring them from “gun-free” zones.
