[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]More and more, the term “pride” is being reserved for special groups. It is allowable to be proud of one’s race (so long as they’re a minority). It’s allowable to be proud of one’s sexuality (so long as it centers on homosexuality). But for Southerners proud of their heritage, the word “pride” is strictly forbidden by the politically correct crowd.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]That is why the left has waged a campaign to scrub American history of any semblance of the Confederacy. Flags, memorials and even the earthly remains of Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest are being desecrated.
Stone Mountain, the Confederate monument in Georgia, is next.
Amidst the Stalin-esque purge of unfavored history, the PC crowd has set their sights on Stone Mountain, a gigantic carving of Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.
Now, leftists are calling for the addition of other Georgians: two rappers from the group “Outkast.”
The artist spearheading the campaign has created a proposed relief that includes the duo in a Cadillac and claims,
“I believe it’s important to recognize the history and heritage of all Georgians. However, the carving of Davis, Lee, and Jackson on the side of Stone Mountain only represents a small, regrettable time in the history of the Peach State. It’s high time we added a bit more of our history and culture to this monument.”
He continues, “By no means do we wish to erase or destroy the current carving, which, regardless of its context, is an impressive and historic work of art. We simply wish to add new carvings, of Atlanta hip-hop duo Outkast, to the mountainside. There’s plenty of room.”
If the new standard is that we may desecrate monuments with which we disapprove, I hereby advocate that we add statues of the members of Aerosmith to the Franklin Roosevelt monument. “Dream On” is a fantastic piece of music and God knows Steven Tyler has accomplished more praise-worthy achievements than the corrupt New Dealer who prolonged the depression.
The artist, Mack Williams, has created a petition that he intends to submit to the Georgie House, Senate and Governor. There’s a link, but including it would be a minor form of complicity in the furtherance of this lunacy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
