Do you like Star Wars?
Do you like guns?
If you answered in the affirmative to either of these two questions, then this video is for you!
In truth, though I’ve seen all the Star Wars movies, I could only be described as a casual fan. Science fiction is not really my thing. However, as a fan of guns, I can appreciate when someone gets creative with their hobby (so long as they’re doing it safely).
Jerry Miculek is a YouTube star and considered to be one of the best shooters of all time. On his channel, Miculek brings interesting guns to viewers. Recently, in celebration of the release of the new Star Wars movie, Miculek created a Star Wars blaster from a Mauser C96- a piece of military history many know as a “Broomhandle Mauser” for its distinctive grip.
The C96 is the first successfully mass-produced semi-automatic pistols. Though there were prototypes, the C96 saw action in the First World War as well as many conflicts around the world. It was reliable and even used its wooden holster as a shoulder stock that could be attached to the firearm. It fired a 7.63 Mauser round, but also saw variants in 9mm and other calibers. It was fed by a 10-round internal magazine that could be resupplied via a stripper clip or hand-loaded.
The weapon looks dated today while still somehow appearing futuristic and “blaster-like.” The gun was used as the base for the blaster carried by Han Solo in Star Wars and Miculek shows us what his blaster can do as he takes out Stormtroopers and intergalactic bounty hunters alike.
Check it out and remember: firearms, though they can be dangerous if not properly handled, can also be a fun hobby. So remember to have a little fun with your collection; just remember to be safe!
