Many have assumed, rightly or wrongly, that retired neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate Ben Carson, an early endorser of Donald Trump after suspending his campaign, would play some role should Trump win the presidency, or even be Trump’s VP running mate in the general election.
However, appearing on Fox Business Network’s “The Intelligence Report” on Tuesday, Ben Carson attempted to put to bed any speculation about his desire to serve in a Trump administration:
“I would not want to be on the ticket or in the Cabinet. I personally feel that I can be considerably more effective as an outside voice. I was an outside voice before all this started.”
This is a surprising statement by Carson and flies in the face of earlier statements. In March, Carson told Newsmax TV that not only had Trump promised Carson a job in his administration but that he would serve in some capacity in a Trump administration.
Many were shocked when Ben Carson endorsed Trump, who referred to him as a “child molester,” a “pedophile” and a “sick puppy” during the GOP primary.
