On Friday, we reported about leaked audio from a private fundraiser in February of this year where Hillary Clinton describes Bernie Sanders’ supporters as politically naive and “living in their parents’ basement.” It was a demeaning remark as everybody knows. To be called a “basement dweller” doesn’t conjure up positive images.
Nevertheless, socialist Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton’s major opponent during the Democrat presidential primary, is not just excusing the remark but is calling her description “absolutely correct.”
Sanders delivered the head-snapping spin on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday:
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: “Here’s what Donald Trump Tweeted about that. He said, “Crooked H is nasty to Sanders’ supporters behind closed doors, owned by Wall Street and politicians. HRC is not with you,” making a direct pitch to your supporters.
How did you take it?”
BERNIE SANDERS: “I took it exactly the opposite way. I think what she said — and, by the way, during the campaign, we do have our differences, Secretary Clinton and I do disagree on issues. But what she was saying there is absolutely correct.”
Uh, okay Bernie. Whatever you say. But then again, this is Bernie Sanders who purchased a $600,000 vacation home, his third house, after losing the Democrat nomination to Hillary Clinton. This was after railing against capitalism and the wealthy while pushing his “socialist political revolution” to millennials. So, his own actions demonstrate that he sees his supporters as chumps and views them in a low regard.
