Former CIA counter-terrorism undercover agent and new Independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin dropped a bombshell on Tuesday, proclaiming that Donald Trump is being manipulated by former KGB officer and Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and that he’s too naive to even realize it.
In an interview on America’s Newsroom on FOX News with Heather Nauert, Evan McMullin responded to a split screen where Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani had just boasted about Donald Trump not being bought and paid for like other politicians.
McMullin went beyond taking issue with the narrative, contending that Donald Trump was actually bought and paid for by Putin.
“The truth is that Donald Trump is bought and paid for by Vladimir Putin — let’s make that very clear,” McMullin proclaimed.
“Donald Trump has struggled to raise money for his real estate deals since 2004, because of his poor credit worthiness. “He’s had to turn to Russia and to investors there — oligarchs that are close to Putin…”
“But he [Trump] says that is not true, that that is not the case,” Nauert interrupted.
“Oh, I’m told it’s true. I believe it’s true,” McMullin quickly replied. “He is absolutely bought and paid for. The troubling thing is that he’s bought and paid for by Putin,” he stated.
The former CIA officer asserted that negotiating branding deals on hotels in foreign countries hasn’t prepared Donald Trump for dealing with a former KGB spy like Vladimir Putin.
“Trump is nowhere near sophisticated enough to deal with that. And Trump is being played by Putin and Trump doesn’t even realize it.
“That should be alarming to every American,” he warned.
Russians reportedly hacked the computers of the DNC the day before the Democratic National Convention, revealing embarrassing emails that not only caused embarrassment for Democrats but led to the resignation of former DNC head Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
As has been widely reported, the only issue that the Trump campaign suspiciously fought to change in the Republican Party official platform at the convention last month was a softening of the party’s position towards Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine.
Perhaps the key phrase in Evan McMullin’s blockbuster is “I’ve been told.”
With his eleven years of service in the CIA, he just may know something that the rest of us aren’t privy to.
