Last week, the headquarters of GOP presidential candidate and constitutional conservative Ted Cruz in Houston was evacuated by the FBI and Hazmat after the delivery of a package containing a suspicious white substance. Whenever such a substance is delivered, the fear is always that it is an anthrax attack. Fortunately, testing of the substance revealed that it was a hoax and completely non-toxic.
On Tuesday, an office of a different GOP candidate was evacuated after they also received the delivery of a suspicious package containing a white substance.
The DC office of Florida Senator and Gang of Eight co-author Marco Rubio was evacuated today after a package containing a suspicious white powder was found in an envelope. Staff members were evacuated to the roof while the office was searched by the fire department and Hazmat officials. The FBI also responded to the scene.
The area was eventually cleared for return after the substance was deemed non-threatening.
Marco Rubio tweeted out gratitude for officials in the DC area who tended to the matter.
Glad campaign staff in DC is all safe! Thanks to DC emergency personnel. https://t.co/rS1laYTl5O
