A plane leaving Houston, Texas for Turkey was diverted after a bomb threat was found.
Turkish Airlines flight TK 34 left Houston at 9 pm Saturday night, but was diverted to Ireland after the threat. A handwritten note was discovered by the plane’s crew which led to the diversion of the plane. The handwriting on the note will be analyzed against that of all passengers and crew members.
The plane was taken to a remote runway and all 209 passengers disembarked safely.
Turkish Airlines addressed the bomb threat through a spokesman.
Turkish Airlines spokesman Yahya Ustun said: “Turkish Airlines Houston-Istanbul flight (TK34, B777 Aircraft, carrying 207 passenger and 2 infant) today has diverted to Shannon Airport (SNN), Ireland, following a bomb alert.
“The necessary investigation onboard is continuing and the flight will continue to its destination after the termination of the required processes.”
