Bundy Protesters Hold Press Conference Over ‘Federal’ Lands Dispute

In the 1770’s Americans became increasingly agitated by the treatment they received from an abusive government. We remember the “intolerable acts” as being outrageous but, in reality, they were comparatively modest taxes on goods to offset the costs associated with protection of the colonies (you might remember that we had just fought and won a costly war against the French and Indians.)

While there were some justifications for the taxes, what upset the colonists was a pervasive trend: the British Crown increasingly ruled the colonies with a heavy hand and no representation. This violation of principled sparked the American Revolution.

Today, we are saddled with a tyrannical federal government that makes King George III look meek by comparison. The federal government controls our lands, our money and even our healthcare. In the rare instance that Congress is willing to stand-up against our dictator in the White House, King Barack is quick to override our Constitution and issue an executive edict for which he has shamefully become well known.

Though the state of our republic looks bleak, it is not lost so long as we have dedicated patriots like the Bundy Family who, to protest the unconstitutional imprisonment of two Oregon ranchers, have seized a federal wildlife refuge and have refused to leave.

On Monday, rancher Ammon Bundy spoke to the media about the militia’s goals and claimed that the group will remain at the refuge until they can unwind” the federal government’s ownership of lands.

“We intend to go to work in assisting the people of Harney County in claiming their rights, using their rights as free people,” Bundy announced. “We have a lot of work to be able to unwind the unconstitutional land transactions that have taken place here. We also have a lot of work to unwind the claims that the federal government has upon this land.”

“We have teams that are going to be doing that,” he added. “And we have a defense mechanism that allows us to do this while we are here.”

Bundy reiterated that all federal wildlife refuges are in violation of the Constitution as the document does not allow for the federal government to hold such lands, but does allow for the acquisition of lands for military installations and other needed building.

Bundy claimed that the group would vacate the land when the federal government relinquishes its grip on the unconstitutionally-held land claimed by the federal government.

Bundy also claimed that he has been in contact with law enforcement indirectly and that they do not anticipate a raid.

“They have reached out to individuals that we are closely affiliated with and have given messages to us,” Bundy explained. “They intend not to come up on us.”

He refused to elaborate on what the group would do if the government attempted to breach the facility.

The below video is a sobering and much-needed plea for Americans to wake up to the incremental tyranny that has become so routine and commonplace as to avoid detection by the compliant masses. While maintaining a civil tone, Bundy and other representatives of this occupation explain the constitutional foundation for our country and the violations that have been occurring for far too long.

The question at hand is not “Why are they doing this?” The real question is, “Why has it taken so long for patriots to stand-up?”
