Donald Trump appeared at a press conference with New Jersey Governor and former 2016 GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie to announce the endorsement of his campaign by Christie.
While Christie has said numerous times that he and Donald have been friends for years, you wouldn’t have thought that by watching them go at it during debates. In fact, many may have thought that Christie would have endorsed the person believed to be the new establishment darling, Marco Rubio . But, he is throwing his weight behind Trump.
At the press conference in Texas, Christie praised the bombastic billionaire and reality TV star whose unhinged antics on Twitter have become legendary.
“I’ve been on that stage, I’ve gotten to know all the people on that stage. And there is no one better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump.”
Although Trump was made to look like a fool by Rubio at the tenth GOP Debate on Thursday night in Houston and exposed as a perpetual liar by Ted Cruz , Christie claimed that Trump was the “clear standout” at the debate and was “the person who will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again.”
Despite the cozy relationship and decades-long friendship between Donald Trump and the Clintons, during which he has made substantial contributions to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation, even bragging about how he got Hillary to attend his wedding by reminding her of his donations, Christie believes that Democrats and Hillary Clinton fear Trump.
“They know how to run the standard political playbook against junior senators and run them around the block. They do not know the playbook with Donald Trump because he is rewriting the playbook.”
The pair also wrote off any speculation that Rubio and Cruz really got to Donald Trump during Thursday night’s debate, especially Rubio with the way he made Trump look like an utter fool.
“The idea that Marco Rubio can get inside Donald Trump’s head is an interesting position, but one that is really for the D.C. parlor game.”
Perhaps Christie missed, and Donald forgot, about his Twitter rant in an attempt to attack Rubio in which he misspelled numerous words, leading Stu Burguiere of The Blaze to speculate whether Trump was drunk tweeting.
