This morning, Sarah Palin tweeted a blistering article written by her 25-year old daughter Bristol in which the two-time single mom and spokesperson for abstinence went after Ted Cruz due to a statement made by Cruz spokesperson Rick Tyler. Palin tweeted the article with the title, “Is THIS why people don’t like Cruz?”
During an appearance on CNN, Tyler said that if the rumor of Palin’s plan to endorse Trump in Iowa today were true, then Palin would be hurt by the move since she has always stood for conservative principles and Trump has a long history of progressive views on the sanctity of life, marriage, and partial birth abortion. Now, we know whether those rumors, which led the Palins to attack Cruz, are true.
Sarah Palin was indeed the special guest at the Trump rally at the Univesity of Iowa today. The bombastic billionaire has been pumping up a special guest and big announcement for days. It turns out that big announcement was indeed Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Trump for the presidency. The announcement was strategically done in Iowa just shy of two weeks before the Iowa caucus.
Palin was previously a staunch supporter of Texas Senator Ted Cruz, endorsing him during his 2012 Senate race and vehemently defending him in 2013 when FOX News’ Chris Wallace said, during the time that Ted Cruz was fighting to force a vote on funding for Obamacare, that he received “unsolicited research and questions, not from Democrats, but from top Republicans … to hammer Cruz.”
At that time, Palin was a FOX News contributor. She fired back at Wallace demanding that he name his sources.
But Palin, also a Fox News analyst, called out Wallace for citing “anonymous” sources and urged him to come clean about these so-called informants.
“Keep it TRULY fair & balanced. Release the GOP names encouraging you to trash @SenTedCruz. No more anonymous sources,” the former Alaska Governor tweeted.
She was released from FOX News as a contributor in the summer of 2015.
For his part, Ted Cruz responded to the anticipated Palin endorsement with the typical class and grace that he displays.
I love @SarahPalinUSA Without her support, I wouldn't be in the Senate. Regardless of what she does in 2016, I will always be a big fan.
