A man entered the building which houses FOX45 in Baltimore, Maryland threatening to blow up the station. He was dressed in a hedgehog outfit, sunglasses, and a surgical mask and claimed to have a bomb strapped to his chest. The building was evacuated.
As the man walked into the lobby of the building, there was also a car on fire parked just outside the station. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire which is believed to have been started by the gas tank being set on fire.
A security guard said, “He pretty much said he had a bomb on him and that he had a message that he needed to be heard.”
He also shared that the man had a flash drive on his person that focused on astronomy and was critical of the government’s view on space.
“It pretty much had to do with any with astronomy–black holes, the sun, about it being liquid and gas, and he just wanted to say that the government was wrong in thinking about the way they do when it comes to anything in space.”
The suspect, described as a 20-year old male, had his hands in his pockets and refused to remove them, even after being ordered to do so by police. He was subsequently shot by police but is reported to be alive.
Although the suspect has been shot, police say the situation is not yet secure. A bomb squad is on the scene.
