BREAKING: Shots Fired at US Capitol; Shooter Now in Custody

Shots have been fired in the U.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center resulting in a lockdown and shelter in place of the White House, Congress, and the entire U.S. Visitors Center Complex.

Tourists are being told to avoid the area.

Frank Thorp, of NBC News, tweeted a copy of the email sent to those who work in the Capitol.

The shooter has reportedly been caught, though not identified. One officer was shot and sustained minor injuries.

A shelter in place order currently remains in effect.
