Car Intentionally Plows Into Three Police Officers

As three Phoenix police officers stood in a QuikTrip parking lot at 2 am on Tuesday morning, a car suddenly sped towards them and plowed into the trio. Two of the police officers suffered serious injuries and are in local hospitals but the injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. One of the officers was able to jump out of the way just before the car struck. He did, however, sustain injuries when arresting the suspect.

Police say that although impairment was a factor, the targeting of these officers was intentional. The suspect plowed into the officers who were standing in the parking lot of the QuikTrip located at Camelback and 25th Avenue. He then hit a police car and crashed into the front of the store.

The suspect was treated then released into police custody.

FOX 10 reports that this was the first day on the job for one of the officers.

The investigation is ongoing.
