Bombastic billionaire and reality TV show star Donald Trump has had his political leanings questioned numerous times, despite the fact that he is running for the GOP nomination for the presidency.
Those who doubt where Trump stands on issues, policy and even political leanings do so with good cause. Trump has changed his position on a variety of issues not only throughout the years but also in recent months. While he criticizes what he says is corruption in D.C., he has admitted to being part of that corruption by paying off politicians on both sides of the aisle in order to get what he wants.
While appearing on FOX News’ On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, Trump again defended calling constitutional conservative and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz ‘a pussy.’ While he laughed it off, he then attempted to reassure Greta and her audience that as he gets closer to securing the GOP nomination, he will change his choice of words and language.
But, that, per se, isn’t what will cause eyebrows to raise. It’s why he said he would be able to do so easily. Trump said confidently that he can be whatever he wants to be.
“Once you get to a certain level, it changes [referring to the dwindling GOP field], I will be changing very rapidly. I’m very capable of changing to anything I want to change to.”
This ties in perfectly to the release of Ted Cruz ‘s latest ad on Wednesday, titled ‘Playing Trump.’ The video shows children playing with a Trump action figure hero as they say, Trump is ‘pretending to be a Republican.’ The kids state Trump realities such as his donations to Democrats Harry Reid , Nancy Pelosi , and Charles Schumer and brings up Trump’s use of eminent domain in his attempt to take a house from an old lady to build a limousine garage.
Now, he’s campaigning as a conservative cut from the cloth of Ronald Reagan.
Then again, Trump did say he is “very capable of changing to anything he wants to change to.” I guess being a chameleon is pretty handy when you want to convince people you are what they are looking for in a presidential candidate.
