Do you remember when America was free? Sure, we always had rules and the notion that we could do or say anything without worrying about consequences is false. However, I am old enough to remember a time when unkind words were shrugged-off and when boys getting into a fight on the school playground was just par for the course.
Now, such events would be considered “hate speech” and “assault,” respectively.
And yes, I remember when boys were expected to use boys’ restroom and girls were expected to use their own restroom.
The world seems to have gone crazy and is awash in a sea of moral relativism where anything and everything is up for grabs and redefinition.
How crazy has our society become? Consider this as proof of our absolute descent into lunacy: Chicago is now telling kids that they have to address their mentally ill fellow students with the preferred pronoun of their choice or else face serious consequences from the school.
In other words: these kids are still allowed the freedom to speak freely… so long as they are willing to validate the delusions of little Timmy who identifies as Cindy.
According to new guidelines unveiled this week by the Chicago Public School District, children may now use whatever restroom or locker room they prefer and also get to choose their preferred name and gender pronoun and every other student is required to affirm this delusion or else face disciplinary actions by the school district.
The directive states that schools can require children and faculty to stop using “he” or “she” and adopt “ze” as a gender-neutral pronoun.
“Preferred Gender Pronoun (PGP) is the pronoun or set of pronouns that an individual would like others to use when talking to or referring to that individual,” the guidelines state.
“Common examples include, ‘they,’ ‘their,’ ‘ze,’ ‘he’ and ‘she.’”
As if this wasn’t insane enough, the directive also outlines the need for punishment for those who are unwilling to bow to the left’s absurd imposition of political correctness.
“The intentional or persistent refusal by students or school staff to respect a student’s gender identity (for example, intentionally referring to the student by a name or pronoun that does not correspond to the student’s gender identity) is a violation of these Guidelines, the Student Code of Conduct, and Comprehensive Non-Discrimination, Title IX and Sexual Harassment Policy,” the guidelines claim.
The school district warns that “violations will result in appropriate consequences for offending staff and students.”
The school district touts the edict, calling it a “Gender-affirming approach,” that serves as “a framework used to create an environment in which transgender and gender nonconforming youth are able to live as the gendered person they identify themselves.”
CPS Chief Education Officer Dr. Janice K. Jackson claimed in a press release that the aim was to create an environment of tolerance.
“The guidelines released today will help ensure every student and adult in the CPS family can participate in an environment of complete tolerance and respect.”
In case there are some who missed this glaring irony, “tolerance” means tolerating something with which we may not approve. Evidently, the school district seems wholly intolerant of students who wish to not validate the delusions of the mentally ill.
As is standard for leftist zealots, these thugs are victimizing those who dare to abide by their own set of beliefs and understandings of the world under the guise of so-called “tolerance.”
Where is the “tolerance” for those who do not believe that the government has the right to curb our speech so as to not offend the mentally ill? The left loves to promote diversity- so long as it is not diversity of opinion or thought.
At this point, it seems clear that the only way forward is with outright refusal to abide by the left’s agenda. Complete civil disobedience is required to turn-back these outrageous trends. We must be willing to teach our children that there are worse things than detention like, for example, living in a world where we are told not only what we are allowed to say, but are told what we are allowed to believe.
Our Founding Fathers risked death and being branded as traitors to help create a free nation. Our kids can risk detention.
