In response to reports over the weekend of criminal illegal aliens being escorted back to their respective homes countries, Democrat Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer issued a statement against enforcing longstanding immigration laws, contending that illegal aliens who broke immigration laws by illegally entering the U.S. and staying here, are somehow “law-abiding” and “innocent.”
“I have always supported smart immigration enforcement that helps to keep our country safe, but raids targeting law-abiding immigrants and treating those with traffic violations the same as murderers and robbers will only achieve the opposite,” Schumer said in a statement on Monday.
“Targeting law-abiding innocent immigrant families whose only wrongdoing was crossing the border to give their children a better life, instead of focusing on removing those who have been convicted of violent crimes, is a waste of limited resources and undermines law enforcement in communities across the country. ICE must come clean,” Schumer said.
So, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “must come clean” for enforcing the nation’s immigration laws, but illegal aliens must be allowed to disrespect our laws — they don’t need to come clean? If a parent robs a bank because the money would “give their children a better life,” should they be allowed off the hook? Apparently so, according to lawless Chuck Schumer.
In a statement, Homeland Security Secretary, General John Kelly said that ICE raids conducted over the weekend targeted those illegals “who pose a threat to public safety, border security or the integrity of our nation’s immigration system.”
In a separate statement, ICE officials said that “Reports of ICE checkpoints and sweeps are false, dangerous and irresponsible. These reports create mass panic and put communities and law enforcement personnel in unnecessary danger.”
Yesterday, President Donald Trump tweeted that the reports of enforcing immigration laws are simply the keeping of a campaign promise to deport criminal illegal aliens:
The crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise. Gang members, drug dealers & others are being removed!
