Colin Kaepernick was given up for adoption by his white mother and never knew his black father because he was out of the picture before he was born. He was adopted by a well-to-do white family and raised in an affluent neighborhood. In high school, he was much better at baseball but wanted to play college football. When no college was giving him a look, his white coach made a tape of some of his best plays. The effort of that coach helped Kaepernick land a football scholarship at Nevada and, eventually, a lucrative contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
While Kaepernick is sitting the bench right now after losing the starting position due to poor performance, he is still reaping the benefits of his big dollar contract. Despite having blessings beyond his wildest dreams, Kaepernick made a statement when talking about the first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump that is simply shocking.
Kaepernick shared that he believes it is embarrassing that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the nominees for president from the Democrat and Republican parties respectively. Given the extremely high unfavorable ratings for each candidate, that statement isn’t very shocking or out of the ordinary. It was the shot he took at Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” that is extremely hypocritical and not factual. However, I suppose it is to be expected since Kaepernick appears to be angling for a position among the professional racial grievance industry profiteers.
In speaking about Trump’s slogan, Kaepernick said, “He always says ‘Make America great again.’ Well, America’s never been great for people of color. And that’s something that needs to be addressed. Let’s make America great for the first time.”
Is America perfect? No, it is not. No country is. But after eight years of “the first black president,” as we are reminded daily about Obama, two black attorneys general under Obama (Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder),two black secretaries of state in the previous administration (Gen. Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice), and the numerous black elected officials, entertainers, sports athletes, Olympic gold medalists, doctors, teachers, lawyers, etc, Kaepernick’s claim is ridiculous.
For a man of color with a $100 million contract to complain that America has never been great for people of color is beyond ludicrous. It is insulting to those people around him, of all colors, who have stood by, supported him, and coached him to help him achieve what was his American dream.
Serial panderer Hillary Clinton was not spared from Kaepernick’s criticism as he did say what many in the #NeverHillaryOrHerDonor camp believe. He shared that while elections are usually about the lesser of two evils, this election both candidates are “evil.”
Speaking with CSN sports network, Kaeperick contended, “To me, it was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates. Both are proven liars and it almost seems like they’re trying to debate who’s less racist.”
Despite the allegiance that both Kaepernick and Hillary have for the modern-day Marxist movement, Black Lives Matter, it doesn’t look like Kaepernick is on her side either. He sees right through her pandering and her inauthenticity.
