Copying Americans? Germans Arming Themselves as Islamic Terrorism Worries Increase

Many countries throughout the world simply cannot understand America’s obsession with freedom. For those nations who were not born from enlightenment ideals, it is difficult to understand why “mostly free” is not free enough. The rest of the world has largely bought-into the anti-gun rhetoric of America’s freedom-hating zealots, but now, as the Western world encounters the dangers of Islamic terrorism, it seems that maybe American ideals about self-defense aren’t so crazy after all.

Germany is ground-zero for the Muslim immigration crisis. As Syria crumbles amidst outright chaos, ISIS and other terrorist groups are looking to exploit Western generosity by taking advantage of loose immigration restrictions.

The recent terrorist attack in Paris was perpetrated by such immigrants and the San Bernardino terrorist attack in the U.S. was as well.

As Europe eyes the dangers of radical Islam but still largely refrains from halting their immigration lunacy, some are looking to arm themselves for their own protection.

A new report from the Gatestone Institute details how Germans, unequipped with an individual constitutional right to firearm ownership, have been increasingly arming themselves with whatever weapons at their disposal, including pepper spray.

“Germans, facing an influx of more than one million asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and the Middle East, are rushing to arm themselves,” the report said. “All across Germany, a country with some of the most stringent gun-control laws in Europe, demand is skyrocketing for non-lethal self-defense weapons, including pepper sprays, gas pistols, flare guns, electroshock weapons and animal repellents. Germans are also applying for weapons permits in record numbers.”

The report also details how sales of pepper spray have increased 600 percent in recent months and that applications for permits that are required to carry non-lethal weapons are increasing dramatically all throughout the country.

“Things took off beginning in September. Since then, our dealers have been totally overrun,”Kai Prase, CEO of DEF-TEC Defense Technology, said. ”We have never experienced anything like this in the 21 years of our corporate history.”

The Gatestone Institute noted that violent crime has increased throughout the country and that such a rise can be linked to the rise of Muslim immigrants flooding the country from war-torn Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East.

“The spike in violent crimes committed by migrants has been corroborated by a confidential police report leaked to a German newspaper,” the report said. “The document reveals that a record-breaking 38,000 asylum seekers were accused of committing crimes in the country in 2014. Analysts believe this figure — which works out to more than 100 crimes a day — is only a fragment: many crimes are not reported.”

A woman from Thuringa, Germany, noted that people simply don’t feel safe as their nation is overrun by Muslim immigrants.

“I think it is fundamentally proper for me to protect my daughter,” the woman said. “She is at that age where she is out alone in the evening. If she says she needs this for protection, I think this is not unjustified. Of course, due to the current situation that we now have in Germany we just do not know who is here. There are quite a lot of people who are not registered.”

There exists a supreme right of all animals to protect themselves. Some animals, like rabbits, are equipped with the gift of evasion. Some animals, like lions, are gifted with fierce strength and sharp teeth. Humans are equipped with a superior intelligence that allows us to make tools- tools such as firearms.

Beyond signs, beyond silly statutes and outright bans, the right to self-preservation is a human right and those who feel they should be armed to effect their own survival should do so.
