As the hit ABC show Dancing with the Stars which pairs celebrities with professional dancers enters its 22nd season on Tuesday, they have a line-up set which may just draw in those who love politics as well as those interested in this year’s presidential race.

The show’s line-up includes the ex-wife of a presidential candidate and a political pundit that those on the right love to hate, both with a connection to Donald Trump.

Marla Maples, TV personality and Trump’s second wife to whom he was married for six years who is also the mother of his daughter Tiffiny, will be a contestant on Season 22 of the hit show. Joining her in the line-up is leftist political pundit and FOX News contributor Geraldo Rivera who developed a friendship with Trump when he was a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice.

It’s a brilliant strategy by the network as it will no doubt capitalize on viewership from those obsessed with the vague Trump presidential campaign.

Maples said she is participating in the show in honor of her late mother who was a huge fan of Dancing with the Stars.

‘This is my mother’s favourite, favourite show and I just lost her two years ago on Sunday. So I feel like she’s up above guiding every move and hopefully I’m going to be moving her moves as we’re dancing together, and just bringing a lot of light into the world.”

Maples will be paired with professional dancer Tony Dovolani. In speaking about his new partner, Dovolani had high praise for her and shared that the two have actually been friends for years.

‘We hit it off right away, because we’ve known each other for a long time. We actually met in an airport, of all places. I just think the world of her, and she’s been working very hard. She’s been giving me everything I’ve asked for so far, so I’m hoping it takes us to the end.”

Geraldo Rivera will be paired with Edyta Sliwinska.
