To remain politically relevant, modern liberalism demands that those who counter their narratives be silenced or otherwise punished. Legitimate exchanges of ideas and viewpoints is Kryptonite for the left. This principle is evident in the way the modern left operates.
Opposing viewpoints on campus is “hate speech” and cannot be allowed.
Trump rallies are not countered with opposing protests; they are disrupted by those who assert that it is a moral duty to keep the events from taking place as scheduled.
Politely refusing business to facilitate a homosexual wedding invites the full weight of the Justice Department.
Indeed, the left cannot survive by merely offering a countering viewpoint; it must not rely upon squashing dissent.
That’s why it’s hardly surprising to see that attorney generals for 16 states– all Democrats and one “independent”- have crafted a coalition dedicated to policing the discussion concerning “climate change” and stand at the ready to prosecute those who not subscribe to the alarmist perspective.
Joining with environmental hysteric Al Gore, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Tuesday that he and fifteen other attorney generals intend to work together “on key climate-related initiatives” which will include investigations into whether or not oil companies have committed fraud in publicly rejecting the politically-tainted “science” the left uses to prop-up the narrative that mankind is responsible for “climate change.”
Already, both California and New York have launched investigations into ExxonMobil to determine if ExxonMobil has committed such “fraud.” Massachusetts and the Virgin Islands have indicated that they intend to follow suit.
“The bottom line is simple: Climate change is real; it is a threat to all the people we represent,” Schneiderman said. “If there are companies, whether they’re utilities, whether they’re fossil fuel companies, committing fraud in an effort to maximize their short-term profits at the expense of the people we represent, we want to find out about it. We want to expose it and want to pursue them to the fullest extent of the law.”
Aside from the chilling implications of a government willing to literally punish who reject their perspective, the saddest aspect of this vendetta is that the science concerning this issue has been irreparably tainted.
“Green” technologies operate in the same exact fashion as the oil industry and relies upon cronyism as a means of obtaining beneficial financial arrangements. These relationships are only possible when their bought-and-paid-for “studies” can substantiate a direct causal relationship between man’s actions and a warming (or cooling) of the Earth.
At this stage, the conflicts of interest on both sides of the debate are so great that any “scientific” studies confirming or denying the existence of man-made “climate change” have been rendered irrelevant.
Still, evidently, that matters little to the hysterics who believe in the great global warming scam.
