Evan McMullin to Launch Independent Presidential Bid

“Standing up to run for president because it’s never too late to do the right thing.”

An overwhelming majority of Americans are hungry for an alternative to the highly flawed and highly unpopular presidential candidates in both parties. One is an unindicted leftist felon with a long career of political greed and corruption. The other is her donor, a bloviating reality TV actor and conspiratorial smear merchant with a serious untreated case of Narcissistic Personal Disorder (NPD) and the maturity of a 3-year-old petulant child.

It is not a choice between the “lesser of two evils.” It is the choice between the “evil of two lessers.”

Many conservatives would like to vote for a Libertarian candidate, as they probably agree on 75 percent of the issues (including nearly 100 percent on economic issues), but considering Gary Johnson had to quit smoking pot to throw his hat in the ring and that he literally thinks a Jewish baker should be forced by government to bake a cake for a Nazi, his candidacy is considered a joke.

The other third-party option, Jill Stein of the Green Party, is a soviet-style communist in the same vein as Bernie Sanders who has an even bigger desire to bankrupt America by saddling it with the poisonous global warming hoax.

America needs less government interference in our lives — not more.

On Monday, multiple sources are reporting that Evan McMullin, a former CIA counterterrorism operative, will run as a conservative alternative to the above choices as an Independent candidate.

While it’s an uphill battle do to name identification issues and ballot registration, a McMullin launch has apparently been in the works for a while, organized by a Never Trump group, Better for America.

ABC News reports that Evan McMullin will launch an Independent candidacy for the presidency today and obtained the following statement:

“In a year where Americans have lost faith in the candidates of both major parties, it’s time for a generation of new leadership to step up. It’s never too late to do the right thing, and America deserves much better than either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton can offer us. I humbly offer myself as a leader who can give millions of disaffected Americans a conservative choice for President.”

Evan McMullin, 40,  is a former CIA operative, businessman, and a Republican House Chief Policy Director, meaning that he will be well-versed in policy, which would bode him extremely well on the debate stage against Donald Trump who has shown ignorance on policy details despite being in the race for over a year.

McMullin would need to get to 15 percent in polls before he’s allowed to debate on the main stage according to current rules.

A review of McMullin’s Twitter account reveals limited activity, however, the tweets that are posted are revealing. His Twitter profile has been updated with a logo and the message: “Standing up to run for president because it’s never too late to do the right thing.”

McMullin, who like Donald Trump has never held elective office before, has ties to veteran Republican communications strategist Rick Wilson, who has been against a Trump presidency from early on in the campaign and has become more outspoken to the degree Trump has revealed himself to be more unhinged from reality.

In July, Rick Wilson, who is expected to play a role in McMullin’s campaign, penned a piece in July entitled, “Trump and the Cult of Stupid,” On Sunday, Wilson wrote an opinion piece with the long headline: “Beat him like a drum: Donald Trump must not just lose in November; to correct the institutions he’s broken, he must suffer a humiliating defeat.

Former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, was the first to break the story on Morning.

McMullin has a major uphill battle, however, with the public’s desire for a legitimate alternative to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, and in the day and age of social media — not to mention the craziness of this election season — as they say, nothing is impossible.

While details about McMullin’s specific views on policy matters are not yet known, it would be difficult to imagine a world where he could be worse than the above-mentioned candidates.

“So you’re saying there’s a chance?”
