On the same day that Donald Trump’s campaign says he was duped into making an appearance on Russia Today, Vladimir Putin’s propaganda network, Independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin levied a stunning accusation against the Republican nominee.
As Trump continues to praise the Russian strongman and even said this week that he will continue to sing Putin’s praises as long as the love is reciprocated, Evan McMullin, a former CIA counter-terrorism officer, proclaimed that his contacts within the agency have informed him that Donald Trump is being blackmailed by Vladimir Putin.
McMullin told CNN’s John Berman and Kate Bolduan on Friday (emphasis added):
“The evidence is clear in just the way Donald Trump speaks about Putin. Donald Trump has never said a negative thing about Putin as far as I can tell. Donald Trump is dependent on Russian investments from Russian oligarchs associated with Vladimir Putin — for his real estate development projects. He’s appointed, Donald Trump [has], key members of his staff who have other financial ties to Russia.
I mean, this is absolutely out of control. You know, I hear from some of my old intelligence friends that Donald Trump has been engaged in some activities in Russia that Vladimir Putin may be using to blackmail Trump, so there’s a lot going on there that I don’t think has come to light.”
Evan McMullin, who is currently on the ballot in ten states after launching his campaign a month ago, said that it’s “unfortunate” that America is debating the merits of Putin, someone who is an enemy of freedom and democracy and that the Republican nominee openly expresses his admiration for him.
