FLASHBACK Video: Obama: Bergdahl Scandal a ‘Controversy Whipped up in Washington;’ Makes ‘Absolutely No Apologies’

Obama

Today, we learned that Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who Obama swapped for five notorious Taliban terrorists, known as the “Taliban Dream Team,” who were being held at GITMO, in exchange for Bergdahl’s release, will be charged with desertion, a serious military crime that could lead to severe punishment.

After Americans were outraged at the completely unbalance swap, as well as Obama breaking long held U.S. protocol to never negotiate with terrorists, even some Obama supporters were left quietly scratching their heads.

Many were left perplexed at Obama’s rationale for the terrorist swap, especially after reports from several former members of Bergdahl’s platoon consistently reported that the man they served with was a deserter at best, and a traitor at worst, and that this information was readily available to Obama prior to his unilateral action, action taken without any congressional advisement.

In June of 2014, Obama was asked about the exploding Bergdahl scandal, and dismissed the controversy as a controversy that was “whipped up in Washington.”

Speaking at a joint news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Obama said that he would “make absolutely no apologies” for his decision to release Bergdahl in exchange for the five Muslim terrorists.

“I’m never surprises by controversies that are whipped up in Washington — alright. That’s par for the course,” Obama said, while saying the the military never leaves their own behind.
