Frank Luntz Focus Group Picks the ‘Overwhelming’ Winner of the GOP Debate

Polls show bombastic billionaire and reality TV star Donald Trump with a large lead over Senator Ted Cruz in the early primary state of South Carolina, but that may be changing if the 26 South Carolinians attending the Frank Luntz focus group who watched Thursday night’s sixth GOP debate are any indication.

“Overwhelmingly” when asked who won the debate, the crowd shouted in unison, “Cruz!”

And in what Luntz called “truly the highlight of the debate,” the heated birther exchange, the group looked to all raise their hands in unison when asked who thought Cruz won the birther brawl.

“He handled him,” the first lady in the audience explained. “It was really evident that capable of taking the hit and handling it and turning Donald around on himself.

“Not only that, he was very eloquent, very level-headed about everything he [Ted Cruz] had to say tonight,” the next person, a man, contended.
