The special election for the seat of former congressman and now HHS secretary Tom Price is being held today in Georgia’s sixth congressional district and the Democrat hopeful, who is running against a crowded field of Republicans, Jon Ossoff was taken aback on Tuesday during an interview on CNN’s New Day when he was asked a question he didn’t see coming.
When co-host Alisyn Camerota pressed Ossoff about his carpetbagger status of not living in the district he hopes to represent and is therefore not able to vote for himself today, Ossoff claims to have grown up in the district, claims to have family that lives there, and argues that the only reason he doesn’t live there himself is because he’s shacking up with this “girlfriend of 12 years” to “do right by her.”
“So when are you gonna marry her?” Camerota bluntly asked.
“Well, I don’t want to give anything away,” Ossoff asked, avoiding the question like the plague. “But I think I could reasonably say that’s more of a personal question. I’ll give you a call when I gave something to announce,” he promised while chuckling awkwardly.
