The Obama Administration has huffed and puffed but, thankfully, the despotic regime has fallen-down on the job with regards to actually enforcing their illegal executive orders aimed at undermining the Second Amendment.
In the beginning of 2016, the Obama Administration announced a series of executive orders aimed at circumventing Congress in order to unilaterally enact gun laws that would affect anyone who sold a firearm.
Though Obama maintained that all who are “in the business” of selling firearms obtain a Federal Firearms License (FFL), his decree remained ambiguous and those selling even a single firearm without an FFL- a practice allowable in many states as “private sales”- could run afoul of the executive edict.
Citing a report from the New York Times, the Washington Free Beacon reports that the Obama Administration has failed to follow-through on the imperial order.
Instead of assigning prosecutors, assembling a special task force, or reallocating funds to enforce the president’s new plan the tangible moves made by the administration amount to little more than printing some pamphlets and setting up a new website. “Few concrete actions have been put in motion by law enforcement agencies to aggressively carry out the gun dealer initiative, despite the lofty expectations that Mr. Obama and top aides set,” the Times reported.
Signs of how little the President’s move would have on the practice of buying and selling guns began to surface in the immediate aftermath of its announcement, when the ATF’s written guidance was found to be in stark contrast with comments coming out of the White House.
The firearms industry has seen no effects from the action.
“Nothing, from what we can see, has changed,” Mike Bazinet, a spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, told the Times.
However, the Obama Administration can and does change the prioritization of the president’s radical agenda in a moment’s notice.
President Obama prioritized undermining the Second Amendment little prior to 2013. In the days after Sandy Hook, however, Obama set his sights squarely on eroding the Second Amendment and unleashed an astonishing 23 anti-Second Amendment executive orders in a single day while simultaneously pressuring Congress to pass the Toomey-Manchin bill, a disastrous piece of legislation that would have eliminated any and all private sales of firearms.
Though those who value the Second Amendment and the freedoms it provides should rejoice at the sloth of the executive branch, our right to bear arms hangs by a thread as our president, unbound by the limitations of reelection, has demonstrated an outright disdain for the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and the separation of powers that exist within.
