[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) undoubtedly wishes he could take a few words back that he was caught saying on a hot mic. During a Senate Appropriations meeting mark up, Kirk made a comment about his fellow Republican, Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, and the fact that, if elected president, he would be the first since Grover Cleveland to be a bachelor president. Except, his words didn’t come out very well.
[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]In fact, they were deplorable.
Kirk, who is a freshman senator, said, “Did you see that? He’s going to have a rotating first lady. He’s a bro with no ho.” This was said in response to Graham’s statement that he would have rotating first lady if he is president.
Although no one in the room heard Kirk’s statement, with the exception of the friend and colleague that he shared his statement with, it was, unfortunately for Kirk, picked up on the livestream and reported on by The Huffington Post.
His staff quickly scrambled and tried to clean up Kirk’s massive faux pas. His spokeswoman, Danielle Varallo, said that Kirk was “joking with his colleague and immediately apologized to anyone offended by his remark.”
Though Kirk says he is a Republican, to say he is a Republican in name only (RINO) would be putting it mildly.
[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”553157113d3ff”][vc_column_text]According to Conservative Review, Kirk has a liberty score of 29 percent. The purpose of the group’s liberty score is to “determine if a politician is supporting conservative principles separating their rhetoric from reality.”
Kirk is already in a tough re-election campaign and this open mouth, insert foot moment will no doubt be advertising fodder for any challenger to him in the primary or general.
Listen to Senator Kirk’s unfortunate remark starting at approximately the 26 second mark.
