After this Insult by Trump Surrogate Newt Gingrich, Will Trump Go on the Attack?

Former Speaker of the House and Trump surrogate Newt Gingrich appeared on FOX Business’ Mornings with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the war Donald Trump is waging against the Republican party and, specifically, Speaker Paul Ryan.

Gingrich was surprisingly not just highly critical of this focus by Trump on Paul Ryan instead of his general election presidential opponent and long-time friend, Hillary Clinton. He also called Trump out for it.

As a recap, during a rally in Florida on Wednesday, Trump hit hard against Ryan after Ryan announced that although he is not rescinding his endorsement, he would no longer campaign with Trump because he did not want to defend the Trump Tapes. This tape is of Donald Trump, in 2005, bragging about how he could commit sexual assault against a woman and get away with it because he’s famous.

Bartiromo asked Gingrich exactly what was the deal with this. In what could be seen as a play on Trump’s attack on Florida Senator Marco Rubio during the GOP presidential primary as “Little Marco,” Gingrich called Trump out for this childishness.

NEWT GINGRICH: Look, look. First of all, let me just say about Trump, who I admire and I’ve try to help as much as I can. There’s a big Trump and a little Trump. The little Trump is frankly pathetic. I mean, he’s mad over not getting a phone call? I mean —

Not only did he call Donald “Little Trump,” he also called out the actions of “Little Trump” as pathetic.

How long until Trump adds an attack on Gingrich into the mix of his Twitter tirades?
