It Begins: Salon Says White People Must Answer for Violence in Charleston

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Imagine if white Americans demanded that the black community take responsibility for the murders of the Beltway Snipers. What if we condemned all black people as complicit in some degree with the torture of dogs simply because Michael Vick is black? Black leaders would be outraged and most importantly, they would be justified in their outrage.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]Yet, despite knowing nothing of the motives, Salon has condemned white Americans for their “role” in the recent heinous attack on a church in Charleston, South Carolina, by a deranged, white gunman.

Everybody- again, everybody– should condemn these killings and demand justice. However, in these times of racial strife and with race-hustlers like Al Sharpton and even President Obama working to heighten animosity between the races, it’s hardly surprising to see the gunsmoke clears, America’s race-obsessed left is already looking to justify racial hatred by blaming whites for this attack.

Salon’s Chauncey DeVega writes that even though little appears known about the shooter at the time of writing, he was white and that was simply good enough for DeVega to condemn whites and conservatives in one fell swoop: (emphasis added)

“The story is still developing. At present, Charleston authorities are reporting that this mass shooting and likely right-wing domestic terrorist assault is a hate crime.”

Of course, blaming conservatives is nothing new. Before anybody knew any facts about the Aurora theater shooting, liberal media outlets were already reporting that James Holmes was a Tea Partier. Why? Because they found the incredibly-common name on a Tea Party website. It was a different james Holmes.

And, as family members searched for news about their loved ones in the aftermath of the Boston Bombing, they, too, were treated to liberal reports that it was “right-wing terrorism” that spawned the bloodshed.

However, DeVega, despite few facts having been revealed, seemed perfectly comfortable not only dragging conservatives into this discussion, but casting a pall of culpability on all whites.

“White right-wing domestic terrorism is one of the greatest threats to public safety and security in post 9/11 United States of America. Such a plain-spoken fact is verboten in mainstream American public discourse,” he wrote.

Even Marc Lamont Hill got in on the fun, tweeting a demand:

“I’m going to need all White people to denounce this ugly act of racist domestic terrorism.”

Of course, we should all denounce this cowardice; but requiring white people to denounce it implies a certain tacit complicity and shared blame which I, and every other white person, should vehemently reject.

DeVega wants answers and he writes:

As such, there are several phrases and words that are likely to not be used by the corporate news media in the discussions of the Charleston mass murders at the Emanuel Baptist Church.

They include:

  1. What is radicalizing white men to commit such acts of domestic terrorism and mass shootings? Are Fox News and the right-wing media encouraging violence?
  2. Is something wrong with the white family? Why are their sons and men so violent?
  3. What should law enforcement and white politicians do about white crime?
  4. Is the Charleston mass shooting just one more sign that America needs sensible and reasonable gun control policies?
  5. Where are the white fathers in the white home?
  6. When will white leadership step up and stop white right-wing domestic terrorism?
  7. Is White American culture pathological? Why is White America so violent?
  8. Are there appropriate role models for white men and boys? Could better role models and mentoring help to prevent white men and boys from committing mass shootings and being seduced by right-wing domestic terrorism?

Once and again, white privilege is the power to be the ultimate individual where one’s actions and behavior rarely if ever reflects on the collective character of white people en masse.

Of course, as DeVega blasts whites and wonders, “Why is White America so violent?” he, like so many race-hustlers in America who claim to be concerned with violence affecting the black community, conspicuously disregards the epidemic of black-on-black violence.

A recent Washington Post report boldly notes: “Despite making up roughly 1 in 12 Americans, blacks accounted for half of all homicides.”

Still, as violence runs rampant an unabated within the black community, so-called “leaders” of these communities too seldom focus on this horrific problem.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”553157113d3ff”][vc_column_text]Further, DeVega does not even attempt to delve into black-on-white crime rates.  Discussing a 2014 FBI report, the National Review noted:

A “white” homicide victim is over twice as likely to be killed by a black than a black homicide victim is to be killed by a “white.” Sixteen percent of “white” victims in homicide incidents involving a single victim and single offender were killed by blacks, compared with only 7 percent of black victims who are killed by “whites.” Given the fact that blacks are less than 13 percent of the national population, their homicide rate against whites and Hispanics combined is vastly disproportionate to their share of the population.

Here’s the simple facts: a deranged man opened fire on innocent human beings. His actions were cowardly and heinous and he should stand before judgement in this life and the next. I will not only condemn this act, I hereby volunteer as executioner if the shooter is found guilty and sentenced to death.

I will not, however, apologize or accept any level of blame in having supposedly helped create an atmosphere for this kind of violence to occur.

Our nation is being torn apart along racial lines and it is utter garbage like DeVega’s article that is helping to deepen these divides.
