In an interview with FOX News’ Eric Shawn on Sunday, former UN Ambassador John Bolton was asked about allegations by the Obama regime that Russia and their leader, Vladimir Putin, were behind the hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), an attempt to influence the outcome of the presidential election.
Ambassador Bolton said that “we don’t know the facts” in regards to the hacking and that if it can be proven that the Russians or any other country are the culprits that a response must be harsh enough that no one will ever try it again. However, Bolton isn’t so sure the Russians are guilty and speculated that the accusation against the Russians could even be a “false flag operation.”
Bolton brought up a prior statement made by FBI director James Comey to make his point. Comey claimed that no trace of foreign hacking was observed on Hillary’s server but now Obama is contending that they did leave a trace when hacking to influence a U.S. election?
As a great philosopher once said, “There’s something rotten in Denmark.”
“We have to know the facts here and it’s not at all clear to me — just viewing this from the outside — that this hacking into the DNC and the RNC computers was not a false flag operation. Let’s remember what FBI director James Comey said dealing with Hillary’s homebrew server.
He said ‘no direct evidence of foreign intelligence service penetration but given the nature of this, we didn’t expect to,’ meaning a really sophisticated foreign intelligence service would not leave any cyber fingerprints. And yet, they did leave cyber fingerprints [according to the Obama regime] in the hacks regarding our election.
So the question that has to be asked is why did the Russians run their smart intelligence service against Hillary’s server but their dumb intelligence service against the election?”
“When you say ‘false flag,’ that’s a very serious charge,” Eric Shawn interjected. “I mean, false flag by whom? Here’s the Washington Post reported [reading from the Post story], ‘The CIA has concluded that individual with close ties to the Russian government hacked the emails. Intelligence officials have determined that Russia’s goal was to help Trump rather than simply undermine confidence in the election. Are you actually accusing someone here in this administration, or in the intelligence community — of trying to throw something?” he asked Bolton.
Bolton responded that while he can’t be sure, he is certain that Obama has politicized America’s intelligence agencies, not an outlandish assertion considering the various agencies in the federal government that Obama has used against his political enemies.
“We just don’t know. But I believe that intelligence has been politicized in the Obama administration to a very significant degree,” he answered Shawn.
“Would intelligence officials politicize this — to go so far to something that could potentially damage the very issue of our Republic — in what we for 200-plus years have stood for?” Shawn further pressed Bolton.
Bolton responded that the entire matter is questionable which is why he’s recommending that an “independent investigation” take place while stating that he firmly believes the Russians have the “capability and the intention” of pulling off the hacking and that he is “not by any means trying to exonerate them.”
“Let me be very clear,” Bolton said with passion. “It is unacceptable for the American Constitution to be assaulted by foreigners in that way so it is absolutely critical as well that we get the facts right on this and I don’t think we have anywhere enough in the public domain to know what the facts are.”
“One thing that makes me very nervous is Barack Obama saying, ‘Let’s have this report before the 20th of January [when he leaves office] so that I can wrap it up,'” Bolton shared. “I think the burden for well or ill is going to fall on Mike Pompeo, who has been named as President-elect Trump’s CIA director,” he opined.
To those concerned about his “false flag” accusations, Bolton said that “We would want to know who else might want to influence the election and why they would leave fingerprints that point to the Russians.”
