Why The Left Keeps Winning And What The Right Should Do About It

There are many signs that the Left is winning (or at the least, making serious progress) in terms of implementing their “progressive”, socialistic goals in our once proud Republic.

They have made incredible strides culturally speaking with amazing speed. If you were to ask the average person just five years ago if a television show would someday portray a young teenage boy having a homosexual relationship with a middle-aged Muslim storekeeper as a “normal” “loving” relationship, chances are they would answer that such a “relationship” as that would constitute an illegal act. An act comprised of a victim, and a perpetrator guilty of statutory rape. Furthermore, such a thing would never be aired.

Well, no longer. The Showtime series “Shameless” features such a relationship that is portrayed as normal along with other acts, all so atrocious that I will not describe them here. This is just one example of thousands that prove that the Left has won much in the culture wars.

One doesn’t have to look very far to see their success in politics either. An old, grumpy Socialist who used to write about rape fantasies for an “alternate”  magazine and who didn’t have a real job until he was forty is making a serious run against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nominee for President by selling European Socialism as a government model.  WUT?

It is true that the right has made some progress in the Congress and in state and local legislatures in recent years, however, the country is definitely moving left. Far left.

So, what to do about it?

There are some actions and tactics that the left employ with much success that we simply do not.

Outside of Pro-Life groups and the short run of the Tea Party, we don’t protest. When was the last time you saw a group from the right protesting about, say….. ObamaCare? You haven’t. What about a protest about the National Debt? Never happened.  We just don’t.

I have heard the excuse that those on the right are too busy “actually making a living” to have the time for such things. Nonsense. We find time to do all kinds of things. Like going to the movies or sporting events for instance. If those of us on the right started to protest in earnest, methodically and in legion, the Media would notice and our issues would advance.

The left has this down pat. They are seriously organized. I have researched the Left for quite some time and you cannot believe the sheer amount of groups that organize to push the leftist’s statist agendas.

Here is just a small sample. The right does have its share of groups, but they are much more fragmented than groups on the left. The left ORGANIZES. Together. If NARAL needs bodies for a protest, some group that has nothing to do with abortion rights such as, for instance, the NEA, is there the next morning with signs and coffee. Conservative groups of all kinds should work to unite for our common causes.

Party Loyalty

This is the big one. The key to it all. The left seems to be fragmented into a hundred different groups and tribes with seemingly different concerns and goals. There are the Greens, The pro-choice movement, the labor folks, the public education zealots, the unions, the May Day guys, Black Lives Matter, Fight for $15, the anarchists and on and on.

The thing is, we’ve only got two political parties in this country and EVERYONE involved with the aforementioned votes for the Democrat. Period. Every time. Every election. For any office.

I recently read an article by Robin Alperstein, an attorney and leftist activist. It was a long, arduous piece on how she changed her mind on supporting Bernie Sanders and why. It is quite a tome. She absolutely excoriates him, taking him apart piece by piece and calling him every name in the book from a sexist to a con man to a lazy profiteer. What a screed it is. BUT, dug inside of this screaming manifesto is this sentence: “what I’m trying to explain is how and why I have come to dislike him so even though of course I’ll vote for him in the general (and even campaign for him) if I have to” (emphasis mine).

Boom. There it is. Try and read that whole piece and then come back to that sentence. THAT is what we are up against. The left is fanatically loyal to the Democratic Party. There is no #NeverHillary or #NeverSanders. Hillary and Sanders will go at each other just like Hillary went after Obama in 2008. However, when the nominee is picked, they will run back into each other’s arms and every leftist in the country will rally to the one cause they all so fervently fight for: to beat us, the right.

If Trump is our nominee, Cruz fans might stay home. Rubio fans might stay home. But if Hillary is the Democrat Party nominee, every Sanders fan that months ago was fighting against “Wall Street Hillary” will gladly pull the lever for her.

It would bode well for us if we were to follow their lead.
