Bombastic billionaire and reality TV star Donald Trump, the current GOP presidential frontrunner, went on an unhinged Twitter rampage against constitutional conservative Ted Cruz on Saturday, throwing a social media kitchen sink at Cruz, who has soared into second place behind Trump in all major national polls.
Constitutional scholar, top talk show host, and best-selling author Mark Levin, who has throughout the campaign seemingly been a fan of Trump’s, has been no fan of Trump’s attacks against Cruz, and said so on Facebook on Saturday.
Levin, who last week offered to debate anyone, including Trump, on Ted Cruz’s eligibility to be president, said that Trump needed to “cut the crap” because he was turning off the very people he needed — conservatives — in order to be elected.
The real reason for Donald Trump’s onslaught of attacks against Ted Cruz may be driven by a new NBC/WSJ poll that finds Cruz would handily defeat Trump in a head-to-head match, meaning that if — and/or when — all other candidates leave the race and Trump and Cruz are the last two standing, Cruz would garner the former candidates’ supporters — Trump would not.
And it wouldn’t even be close:
