This bastardization of the Reagan legacy into remaking it in Donald Trump’s image has got to stop. Surely, Mike Pence knows better than this.
While it’s true that by all accounts, the late great conservative president Ronald Reagan was a humble and God-fearing man, Donald Trump has to be the most narcissistic candidate (yes, including Barack Obama, unfortunately) to seek any public office — including local dog catcher candidates.
Trump can never admit error, never apologize, and has publicly stated repeatedly that he has never seen the need to ask God for forgiveness. He likely, as some have speculated, has a serious and untreated case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), which is why his massive, yet thin-skinned ego must respond to each and every criticism of him.
Yet, Mike Pence high-hurdled the shark on Thursday, telling CNN’s Dana Bash that both Ronald Reagan and the bloviating billionaire have something called a “core of humility.”
It would be funny if he were joking. Mike Pence should really stop with the Reagan comparisons. Ronald Reagan was nothing like Donald Trump, a liberal New York con man and donor to Hillary Clinton — someone who sang her praises AFTER Benghazi, who has duped millions into thinking he’s a Republican or even a conservative. He is neither.
For Mike Pence to even use the words “humble” or “humility” with Donald Trump in the same sentence is shameful. And for him to invoke Ronald Reagan in a false comparison is damaging to his legacy and even more disgusting.
Mike Pence should be ashamed of himself.
