‘Minority Report’: If Democrats get Their Way, Kiss Your Due Process (and Your Guns) GOODBYE!

For those who are unfamiliar with the movie (and current television show), the premise behind the “Minority Report” is that in the future, authorities can allegedly pre-determine who will commit crime and when. Therefore, the authorities can arrest somebody for having done nothing, but for the “crime” that they were allegedly about to commit.

The premise is interesting and if such a power were possible, it would certainly be tempting to use it. However, unlike in the real world, in “Minority Report,” authorities do not need actual proof that someone was about to commit a crime. The very nature of an arrest predicated upon what someone might do is inherently unconstitutional.

Still, though “Minority Report” is the work of fiction, there are tinges of this totalitarian state being brought to life in the Obama Administration.

President Obama and Democrat lawmakers are crusading against America’s premise of due process as they push legislation that would prohibit people on the terrorist watchlist from purchasing firearms.

While this may seem like a good idea to many, the problem is that there is no due process for those included in the watchlist; if you find yourself unlucky enough to have been added to this blacklist of citizens with lessened rights, there is no remedy, no trial, and no due process. If the government says you’re a terrorist, you no longer have the benefit of constitutional rights. One can appeal this arbitrary inclusion onto the list, but it should be noted that one would be appealing to the very same government that placed the name on the list in the first place.

In effect, Democrats are not hoping to keep terrorists from buying guns; they’re hoping to keep dissenters from buying guns.

The very same administration which has rampantly abused the free press and who has orchestrated a years-long governmental vendetta against dissidents, using the IRS as a weapon, is the same government that would be the decider of who is and who is not allowed to own a firearm.

Still, Democrats are pretending that this is about safety…

Thankfully, civil rights groups like the NRA and the Gun Owners of America are fighting this ridiculous crusade against our Second and Sixth Amendment protections.

To explain this unconstitutional effort, NRA News’ Colion Noir takes the Obama Administration to task and tells the real story behind the effort to keep America free.
