A new leaked poll, which has not been verified, shows considerable tightening in South Carolina, which has the next GOP primary in the nation on February 20.
The unverified poll, disclosed by Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard, shows that Donald Trump ‘s lead over Ted Cruz has shrunk from what was a 16-point lead in the third week of January, according to the Real Clear Politics average of polls, to only a six-point lead now.
In January, Trump led Cruz 36% to 20%, with Marco Rubio in third at 13%. Kristol’s leaked poll shows Trump at 32%, followed by Cruz at 26% and Rubio at 20%.
Jeb Bush, whose father and brother both did well in the Palmetto State, is in fourth place in the new poll at 10%, while John Kasich, another RINO, is showing up in the cellar at only 2%, meaning that if accurate, South Carolina will more than likely be the end of the line for him.
Here’s how the entire field broke down:
- Donald Trump: 32%
- Ted Cruz: 26%
- Marco Rubio: 20%
- Jeb Bush: 10%
- Ben Carson: 7%
- John Kasich: 2%
A strong third-place finish by Marco Rubio would show a rebound from his poor showing in New Hampshire and would guarantee his staying in the race, while all candidates below third place, if behind by a large point-spread, may have a hard time making the case to supporters why they should remain in the race.
