The left asserts that it is a moral imperative to validate delusion. They have demanded that when a confused man or woman wants play pretend, that we all play along.
It’s not merely obnoxious; it’s downright dangerous to our society.
Still, if ever there were a place where the left and right should agree to cut-out the playtime nonsense, it should be at the doctor’s office. When I see the doctor, I want him or her dealing in solid biological facts. If the doctor asks me if I’m menstruating regularly, I’m leaving and going to a doctor that understands the basic differences between boys and girls.
Sadly, under Obamacare rules, doctors who treat people based on biological facts could soon be vulnerable to lawsuits from special snowflakes who demand that the rest of the world validates their delusions.
In May, as Obama dictated from his throne the federal policy with regards to transsexuals and crossdressers using the bathrooms of their choice, he also issued a lesser-known edict that amends Obamacare to mandate that healthcare providers and insurance companies handle patients in accordance with their preferred gender identities, not their true biological reality.
Roger Severino, director of the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society at the Heritage Foundation, notes that the new rules offer a definition of gender that includes male, female, neither, or both.
“It’s now federal policy that you could be both male and female in some combination,” Severino said. “That’s a pretty radical statement, and impossible to know what it really means.”
In other words, if a doctor sees a male patient, the patient could identify as female and the doctor is obliged to treat the patient as a female. Failure to do so could leave the doctor and the medical facility vulnerable to lawsuits.
We have reached the tipping point of absolute insanity. As annoying as social justice crusaders can be when asserting that a man in a dress is a woman, they rarely claim that the man is a biological woman. Now, if a man comes and complains of an ovarian problem, the doctor must waste his or her time by validating this delusion or otherwise face the full wrath of the Obama Justice Department and/or civil consequences.
The Federalist reports on how these regulations could have disastrous consequences in the real world:
The regulations provide an example of how a doctor could discriminate against a transgender patient, Severino said. If two people are both candidates for a hysterectomy, one a woman with uterine cancer and the other a woman who wants fewer woman parts to look more like a man but is otherwise perfectly healthy, the doctor could be found to be discriminating against the second woman by choosing to treat the woman with cancer instead. The rule states all the second woman would need to attempt to force the surgeon to perform an elective hysterectomy is a note from a psychologist affirming her desire to become a man, Severino said.
This essentially takes away a physician’s independent medical judgement, Severino said: “[doctors] shouldn’t be put in the position to violate their conscience or their medical judgment… Lawyers, not doctors, will decide if something is medically appropriate.”…
The regulations also threaten the freedom and independence of health care professionals who “believe maleness and femaleness are biological realities to be respected and affirmed, not altered or treated as diseases,” the Heritage report states. People with religious beliefs that contradict this regulation have no legal options but compliance or filing lawsuits, said Matthew Kacsmaryk, a deputy general counsel at the First Liberty Institute.
“Before, we were dealing with a nebulous possible collision between a sexually revolutionized view of gender identity and the binary male/female view held by every Abrahamic faith: Jewish, Druze, Christian, Muslim, Mormon,” he said. But the new rule makes the collision inevitable: “The rule expressly states that sex stereotypes and illegal sex discrimination may be rooted in the binary view of the human species, that God created them male and female.”
At this point, who in their right minds would want to be a doctor? One has to spend years learning and working hard only to ascend to a position that is becoming less financially lucrative in a field that is being hindered in terms of innovation and under the thumb of regulations that place doctors and other healthcare professionals vulnerable to lawsuits.
Obamacare is more than costly and unconscionable regulations; Obamacare will cost lives and dramatically decrease the effectiveness of healthcare in America.
