There’s Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, and All Lives Matter. Now there’s — believe it or not — “Clown Lives Matter.”
In a story that sounds like it’s straight out of the satirical website “The Onion,” but it’s not, we learn that some clowns are organizing a rally in Tucson, AZ, on October 15, to show that “clowns are not psycho killers,” following several creepy clown incidents across the country in various communities that have suddenly sprung up.
Attendees of the Clowns Live Matter rally are encouraged to wear full clown costumes, complete with makeup and masks, according to ABC 15 in Arizona, who obtained a flyer from the upcoming event that states:
“This is a peaceful way to show clowns are not psycho killers. We want the public to feel safe, and not be afraid. So come out, bring the family, meet a clown and get a hug!”
One professional clown, Snuggles the Clown (Jordan Jones), who has worked as a clown since he was 13-years-old, has started a Facebook page called “Clown Lives Matter,” and told FOX43 that the matter is serious because as clowns become increasingly seen as villains, real clowns are getting their reputations tarnished and worse, could become targets of violence.
“Everyone took this as a joke but it’s really become serious now, and I just want all these teenagers to know that it’s not a game anymore. You’re ruining my job and other actors around the world,” Jones said. “You know my family they fear for my life now. My sister, she doesn’t want me doing this anymore,” he revealed.
More than 100 clowns are expected to show up for the event, according to reports.
