Obama Shrugs-Off Threat of Terrorism: Guns Kill More Americans than Terrorism

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]President Obama is skilled at carefully-selecting preferred narratives while disregarding other, more-pressing issues. The man who re-won the Oval Office in 2012 by focusing his entire campaign on a single, fictitious narrative, a supposed “Republican war on women,” commits with laser-like focus on preferred narratives and the compliant mainstream media dutifully carries that message.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]On the issue of the Second Amendment, for example, Obama has continually maintained that 90%+ of Americans agree with his stance on restricting the Second Amendment. In reality, support for gun control remains remarkably low when compared to previous years.

Still, the president maintains that guns, not violent predators, are the inflictors of violence. In a recent interview with the BBC, Obama used the opportunity to, once again, push for more anti-Second Amendment laws and even noted that guns have killed far more Americans than terrorism since 9/11.

“If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it’s less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it’s in the tens of thousands.”

In 2013, 32,719 Americans were killed in auto accidents. Where are the calls for the elimination of automobiles- these “mankillers?”

Obama explained, “The United States of America is the one advanced nation on earth in which we do not have sufficient common-sense, gun-safety laws.”

However, what Obama conspicuously neglects to notice is the overwhelming evidence that shows that gun control laws- a misnomer if ever there was one- do not work. The very criminals who have few qualms about opening fire in movie theaters or on unarmed Marines have even fewer qualms about skirting background checks and entering so-called “gun-free” zones with firearms.

AWR Hawkins at Breitbart notes:

For example, the push to expand background checks to cover more types of sales had a lot of momentum nearly three years ago, then Americans noticed that those behind the high profile, mass killings were passing background checks to get their guns. Since Sandy Hook alone (December 2012), attackers and alleged attackers like John Russell Houser (Lafayette), Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez (Chattanooga), Dylann Roof (Charleston), Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi (Garland), Jared and Amanda Miller (Las Vegas), Elliot Rodger (Santa Barabara), Ivan Lopez (Fort Hood 2014), Darion Marcus Aguilar (Maryland mall), Karl Halverson Pierson (Arapahoe High School), Paul Ciancia (LAX), Andrew John Engeldinger (Minneapolis), Aaron Alexis (DC Navy Yard), and Tennis Melvin Maynard (West Virginia), acquired guns via a background check. So what benefit do Americans gain from expanding such checks?

Further, Obama’s comments telegraph how lazy his administration has become with regards to terrorism. With 9/11 a distant memory, this administration shrugs-off the danger of ISIS both abroad and here at home. Unwilling to call-out radical Islam for what it is, this administration seems infinitely more concerned with wrestling-away the human and constitutional rights of citizens to arm themselves than they are with the radical followers who swear it is their duty to Allah to kill us.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
