America’s first Marxist president, and hopefully the last, is at it again, displaying economic illiteracy not before seen among American presidents (assuming it’s ignorance and not a desire to destroy).
In his weekly address on Saturday, controlist Obama, a lame duck wannabe dictator, revealed new royal edicts, ordering his big brother bureaucrats to hammer certain businesses (likely those run by conservatives or Republicans who don’t contribute to the Democrat Party — think IRS targeting of conservatives and the Tea Party), to sniff out what the Obama Regime decides is “anti-competitive” behavior, in addition to existing law — in other words, a new unconstitutional executive order.
“In addition to enforcing rules on the books, I’ve directed federal agencies to identify anti-competitive behavior in different industries, and find new and specific ways to promote competition,” Obama said, trying to sound like he’s the greatest free market promoter since the late great Milton Friedman.
What part of “free” in “free market” does he not understand? Because nothing spells “free market” more than having a government goon looking over your shoulder.
Leftist snake oil salesman Obama’s boogeyman this time, much like big pharma and big oil have been demonized in the past, is the cable TV industry, which is already beginning to receive major competition with the advent of Roku, Hulu, Netflix, and Sling, etc., etc.
But no matter, Obama to the rescue! He’s gonna save cable TV just like he did the health care market with Obamacare! Hurray!
“One industry that’s ripe for change is cable TV. Right now, 99 percent of cable and satellite TV customers rent set-top boxes from their providers. According to one survey, this costs households an average of more than $230 per year. We spend some $20 billion to rent these devices. While we have almost unlimited choice in what we watch on television, from traditional programming to online content, there’s next to no competition to build a better, user-friendly product that allows you to easily access all this content in one place. So most consumers just rent whatever the cable company offers. Because we have to. That means companies have little incentive to innovate. As a consequence, we need multiple devices and controllers to access content from different sources. That makes no sense. ”
Obama’s back in the business of unconstitutionally writing new laws and in a sane world would be arrested on the spot. Unfortunately, we’ll probably hear very little if any pushback from Republican Party leadership as they are beneficiaries of crony capitalism and don’t understand or stand for free markets much more than Obama does.
Fortunately, this tyrant’s latest deceptive bait and switch isn’t going over well on social media.

@WhiteHouse if you’re looking for ways to improve the free market, get the government the hell out of the way

It’s refreshing to know that citizens — at least some of them, understand a free market economy and the role of the presidency more than Obama does. Never has the saying been more true that America is a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
