While CNN was holding the first of its two night GOP presidential candidates town halls, with Wednesday night featuring Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, in addition to Dr. Ben Carson, bombastic billionaire and reality TV star Donald Trump decided he would rain on their parade and hold his own town hall on MSNBC. Never mind the fact that Trump will participate in CNN’s town hall tonight, his ego and petulance obviously wouldn’t allow others to have their town hall without his interruption.
But, after an incredibly embarrassing moment during Trump’s town hall on MSNBC, he may regret holding it in the first place.
At one point during Trump’s self-aggrandizing town hall, Morning Joe’s co-host Mike Brzezinski shared with a Trump the following description.
“The candidate is considered a political outsider by all the pundits. He’s tapping into the anger of the voters, delivers a populist message. He believes everyone in the country should have healthcare. He advocates for hedge fund managers to pay higher taxes. He’s drawing thousands of people at his rallies and bringing in a lot of new voters to the political process, and he’s not beholden to any super PAC. Who am I describing?”
Trump then chimed in by adding another descriptor. Continuing to perpetuate his claim that he is self-funding his campaign with no donations, Trump added, “Or any special interests or any donors. You’re describing Donald Trump.”
Except she wasn’t. Brzezinski was actually describing avowed socialist, who many would argue is a Marxist, Bernie Sanders.
When she shared that fact, Trump interestingly enough responded with “Oh, that’s good.”
That’s good? Oops. The look on The Donald’s face is priceless. (article continues below video)
Donald Trump just inadvertently admitted what many conservatives have criticized him over – the fact that he isn’t truly a Republican, but rather shares more similarities with progressive Democrats, or in this case a socialist, than the Republican Party.
Thanks for proving the point, Donald.
