Abdul Razak Ali Artan has been identified as the Somali refugee who intentionally drove his car over a curb to hit pedestrians, then exited his vehicle and began attacking pedestrians with a butcher knife.
Artan was a student at Ohio State University and has permanent residence status in the United States. He was shot dead by a heroic police officer who arrived on the scene within one minute of reports of the attack and shot and killed Artan within one minute of arriving.
There is still no information on motive though officials have not ruled out terrorism.
Officials say that Artan, who was born in Somalia, lived in Pakistan from 2007 to 2014 when he was given permanent resident status to enter the United States. He was featured in a “Humans of Ohio State” magazine article in which he complained about a lack of prayer facilities that would accommodate him praying five times a day. He also blamed the media for how people viewed Muslims.
Although some media outlets are reporting that Artan was a freshman, in the article on “Humans of Ohio State” from August 2016 which featured him, he is identified as being in his third year in logistics management. This would make him a junior.

On being a Muslim, Artan also had this to say.
“I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think.” He concludes that he doesn’t blame people for judging him. “It’s the media that put that picture in their heads so they’re just going to have and it, it’s going to make them feel uncomfortable. I was kind of scared right now [of praying in public]. But I just did it. I relied on God. I went over to the corner and just prayed.”
This attack will no doubt renew the valid concerns about the number of Somalian refugees admitted by the Obama regime, often without the knowledge of the governors in whose states they are being placed. While Obama and his team have claimed that all refugees are fully vetted prior to being granted entry, a claim that even the FBI has said is not possible, there are obviously serious flaws in the system and it is putting the lives of Americans in danger.
A reminder and a challenge to President-elect Donald Trump regarding his call to ban immigration from Muslim countries known to be hotbeds for terrorism was issued by a user on Twitter.
