What is wrong with this world when a cop can’t go grab a bite to eat without having their lives put on the line because the person serving their food decides to try to harm them in some way. A few weeks ago, a police officer was rushed to the hospital, his mouth bleeding, after biting into a sandwich from an Ohio cafe only to find it laced with glass. Now, a police officer in Utah has been hospitalized after a Subway employee laced his drink with methamphetamine and THC.
An unidentified officer went through the drive-thru of a Subway in Layton, Utah in his marked patrol car. He ordered a sandwich and a drink, drove away and, thinking nothing of it, began to drink his drink. Sometime later, he began to feel ill so he headed back to police headquarters for assistance.
When the officer’s drink was tested, detectives discovered that it was laced with meth and THC. The officer was hospitalized, treated, and released. He has not, however, returned to duty.
A review of security tapes revealed 18-year-old Tanis Ukena as being the Subway employee who served the officer. In the footage of the tape, detectives say you can see that Ukena has something in his hand. He goes out of the view of the camera for a time before returning, leaning ver the officer’s drink, then handing the drink to the officer. He is currently being held on $10,000 bail charged with suspicion of Surreptitious Administering of Poisonous Substance.
Police officers should be able to go to a restaurant, fast food or otherwise, without fear that they will be poisoned, drug, or in any other way attacked. This just goes to show you that, despite what many claim, the war on police is real…and it’s disgusting.
