Congressman Raul Labrador , a Tea Party favorite from Idaho and a strong conservative, is scolding GOP establishment, specifically Obama’s Mitch McConnell and John “Bendover” Boehner, for creating the Donald Trump monster as well as blasting the establishment for the solution they’re considering.
The Daily Beast reports that at the monthly “Conversations with Conservatives” meeting on Capitol Hill, Congressman Labrador told reporters that he would give more credence to the recent urgings to dump Trump at the GOP convention if they put forth a positive alternative to the bloviating billionaire — like Ted Cruz — but instead, according to Labrador, RINO leadership is considering “the guy who got the least votes, Jeb Bush,” Mitt Romney or John Kasich.
The Idaho lawmaker led a monthly “Conversations with Conservatives” meeting on Capitol Hill and told reporters, “I would find it more telling if people like Hugh Hewitt and others were actually saying, ‘let’s get behind Ted Cruz … instead of Trump at the convention.’”
Cruz would be a welcome replacement, someone they view as a “true” conservative, Labrador said. “No, what they want is the guy that got the least votes, Jeb Bush, or the guy who lost the last election [Mitt Romney], or the guy who went all the way to the end but couldn’t get any vote but his own state to vote for him [John Kasich].”
Labrador, who originally backed Sen. Rand Paul last summer, mentioned other possible options for the top of the ticket, including Paul and Utah Sen. Mike Lee—but acknowledged that such a drastic change at the convention is unlikely.
Representatives from Paul and Lee’s offices declined to comment.
“They continue to push the establishment candidate as their response to Trump,” said a frustrated Labrador as other members nodded in agreement according to The Beast report. “And that’s why we lost. That’s why Trump is the nominee.”
Raul Labrador is absolutely correct. The GOP establishment had every opportunity to get in line behind Ted Cruz , the only candidate able to repeatedly defeat Donald Trump who is the only candidate viewed more unfavorably and with less integrity than scandal-plagued Hillary Clinton.
Instead, they cowardly sat idly by, allowing Trump to skate along unscathed and now the bloviating billionaire and reality TV actor is showing his true colors.
Moreover, Labrador is also referring to Boehner, McConnell, and their minions, with Republican majorities in both Houses of Congress, refusing to stand up to Obama, who has obliterated the constitutional separation of powers that are a hallmark of a free society, turning the presidency basically into a dictatorship.
Unprincipled and phony conservatives, desperately wanting to right Obama’s wrongs, are hungry for a Latin American style “strongman,” their own dictator.
This created the perfect environment for an authoritarian narcissist like Donald Trump to come along and tickle the ears of those disaffected Americans, even if he doesn’t believe a word he’s saying. His followers do.
