REPORT: Person Being Vetted for Cruz Running Mate Revealed

I knew it! Not that this is a done deal or anything, but I have to admit that I predicted this quite some time ago, and hoped for it actually. More than that, I think that Ted Cruz should officially announce this NOW, before the convention.

I’ve thought for months that there was no one running in the previously crowded field better at slicing up both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton than Carly Fiorina. She gets away with attacks against both that are outside of Ted Cruz’s well-mannered personality and character, and would be a major asset, making the duo a formidable power couple.

Today, The Weekly Standard has learned that Ted Cruz’s campaign is vetting former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina as a potential running mate.

She would be wonderful on so many levels, and forgive me for saying this, it really doesn’t hurt that she’s a woman, a strong, powerful woman who would take away Hillary’s sexist card, seen as about Clinton’s only advantage.

Carly Fiorina endorsed Ted Cruz in March, soon after her campaign ended, and has been very effectively campaigning with him at various events around the country.

ABC’s Jonathan Karl floated the rumor that the Cruz may actually announce a running mate prior to the crucial Indiana primary on Tuesday, May 3, which would be historic considering running mates are traditionally named after the candidate has secured the nomination.

Fiorina also has considerable ties to her home state of California, where she won the Republican Senate primary in 2010, but was defeated by entrenched liberal Democrat Barbara Boxer , 52-42 percent. California holds it’s closed primary on June 7.

Last month Fiorina launched a bomb against Trump’s supposed “outsider” status, stating, that “Donald Trump is the system that needs to be reformed.”

The Cruz campaign confirmed to TWS that the campaign is, in fact, vetting potential running mates, but made it clear that no final decision has been made at this time.
