The Results are In: Which Cable News Network is the Least Trusted?

According to a new Rasmussen Poll, CNN is the least trusted news network on cable television.

The poll, published on Wednesday, found that 75% of those polled watch at least some cable news. Of that number, 42% watch FOX News, 35% CNN, and  19% MSNBC. Where CNN should be concerned, however, is in how their trustworthiness, or lack thereof, is perceived by those who tune in. It is in this area that CNN came in behind MSNBC.

FOX News, whose tagline is ‘Fair and Balanced,’ is trusted by 50% of those polled. MSNBC, which generated controversy when they adopted Obamaesque language for their tagline of LEAN FORWARD, is viewed as trusted by 43% of those polled. Sadly for CNN, which has garnered a nickname from some as the ‘Clinton News Network’ for their tendency to defend Hillary Clinton throughout the presidential race, came in third in trustworthiness at 33%.

After this poll, CNN might want to think about altering its tagline from “The Most Trusted Name in News.” Failure to do so would be akin to them spreading “fake news.”

The poll, conducted by telephone, surveyed 1,000 likely voters on January 2, 2017. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
