Back when Donald Trump was trying to gain relevance and support within the conservative grassroots movement, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions helped to bolster his candidacy. As a result, many have said that Sessions could likely have any position he wanted within Trump’s administration. Now, reports have surfaced identifying which position Trump has likely picked out for Sessions.
Senator Sessions is reported to be Donald Trump’s top choice for Secretary of Defense. Sessions currently serves on the Armed Services committee in addition to serving on the Judiciary, the Budget, and the Environment and Public Works committees.
Sessions was seen entering Trump Tower on Monday night but did not answer questions posed by Politico regarding whether he would be interested in the Secretary of Defense position. As stated previously, Sessions is believed to have his pick of positions since his early endorsement of Trump and defense of him really helped solidify him with many in the grassroots.
Although other names, including former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, have been posed as possibilities for Attorney General, Sessions served as Attorney General of Alabama before becoming its Senator. The question is, which position would Sessions choose if given a choice?
